Printlandia: A conversation with my printer
We live in a world where waste is everywhere. It is so easy to consume and discard that we sometimes forget that what we throw away has to go somewhere on our planet earth. As a mosaic artist we can figure out ways to RE-use or “UPCYCLE” almost anything by turning it into art.
Discover new ways of using one of the world’s oldest art forms
Join Rachel as she recreates for you the experience she had making one of the most transformative and innovative pieces of her career… the moment she realized anything can be made into a mosaic.
In 2012, Rachel created Printlandia, in which she cut up and then reassembled her Epson Stylus 500 Printer into an imaginary map of her own making.
What people are saying:

I’m glad our paths first crossed during your teaching years. I wouldn’t be where I am without your good influence.

Rachel works on the cutting edge of the contemporary fine art mosaic movement. Her innovative works have been represented internationally and in cities throughout the US where she has received multiple bests of show awards in juried exhibitions. Rachel’s commitment to the classical language of mosaic paired with her intuitive andamento style has shaped a strong voice in the mosaic world. She brings these classical techniques home to the “here and now” of the present American mosaic movement. I have some questions about hammers. Where do you get yours?
“A girl can never have too many hammers.” I recommend DiMosaico for Italian hammers. For a hand-forged hammer made in the USA, my go-to guy is Nick Ireys.
